Our Mission Statement

The Drama Boosters Club exists to support year-round student drama opportunities and education.

The group’s main function is to provide support for student drama opportunities and development.  Starting the club was motivated by the need to create consistency and continuity for the dramatic and theatrical pursuits of the students throughout the school year, and not just from the time of auditions for the musical to the end of the show’s run.  It is anticipated that fundraisers and club-sponsored workshops will be held during post- and pre-show times. Show production months typically are mid-October to mid-March (approximately 16 weeks). Therefore, post- and pre-show months would be mid-March to the end of school year, usually the third week in June; and pre-show months would extend from the beginning of school, the Wednesday or Thursday after Labor Day, through mid-October (approximately 10 weeks before the end of the year and 6 weeks in the fall, before auditions) This would add another 16 weeks of drama-related activity to the school schedule.

Eventually the club may encourage an integrated approach among the various departments already established in the school; for example, having the business department help with publicity, the art and tech. classes help with designing and painting sets, and tech classes assist with lighting and sound as well.  There is already an interest in establishing more mentor relationships with the institutions of higher learning in our area such as SUNY Cortland, Ithaca College, and Cornell.  The club might provide soft money to develop and maintain mentoring programs in the form of a stipend for faculty whose role it is to supervise students.

(Note: School administrators need to approve activities held at any of the school facilities.)
